The Philosophy Behind the Community Appreciation Party...The Relationship Shouldn't End at Closing.

By Eddy Saylor    REMAX Innovations    Kansas City Northland

The short version: On August 23, REMAX Innovations is hosting a free Community Appreciation Party for clients, friends, families and neighbors across the Kansas City Northland. There will be food, live music, face painting, bounce houses, local vendors, swag and the REMAX hot air balloon. Nothing is for sale. You don't need to be buying or selling a home. We just want to see you.

Here's why we do it.

There's a strange thing that happens in real estate if you let it

You spend weeks, sometimes months, getting to know people incredibly well. You learn what they want. What they can afford. What keeps them up at night. Where they want their kids to go to school. How much garage they absolutely swear they need. And which spouse is going to lose their mind first when the inspection report comes back.

Then everybody signs some papers, somebody hands over the keys, you take the obligatory picture in front of the house and… that's it?

We've never believed that makes much sense.

Our philosophy is pretty simple

At REMAX Innovations, it comes down to one line: the relationship shouldn't end at closing.

Real estate is what brought most of us together. But if we're doing this right, the transaction is only the start of the relationship.

Our clients become people we actually know. They send us their friends and their family. We watch their kids grow up. We help them move again when the house that fit perfectly five years ago suddenly doesn't. We answer questions years after the closing. Sometimes we end up sitting at a kitchen table with the next generation, helping somebody's daughter buy her first place.

That matters to us. And it's exactly why we throw the Community Appreciation Party.

Yes, it's going to be a heck of a party.

But the reason behind it matters more than the party itself.

This is not a sales event wearing a community event costume

Let's be clear about that, because everybody's been burned by the "free family fun day" that turns out to be a lead-capture funnel with a bounce house parked out front.

Nobody needs to be buying a house. Nobody needs to be selling one. You don't need to show up with a real estate question tucked under your arm. There's no sign-in table designed to get your phone number so somebody can chase you for the next eight months.

We simply want to see you.

Because when you build a real estate business around relationships instead of transactions, staying connected isn't a marketing strategy. It's part of the job.

What "the relationship doesn't end at closing" actually looks like

It's easy to put a line like that on a website. It's harder to live it on a Tuesday afternoon when there's no commission attached to the phone call.

In practice, it means:

  • Picking up when a past client calls three years later because they're thinking about finishing the basement and want to know whether they'll get that money back when they eventually sell.
  • Answering market questions from people who aren't remotely ready to move and not treating that conversation like the opening of a sales cycle.
  • Remembering the people behind the contracts. Names, kids, dogs, the reason they moved in the first place.
  • Treating a referral like what it actually is. When a former client sends us their sister, that isn't another lead in a pipeline. That's somebody handing us a person they love and saying, take care of them. You don't get many chances to earn that.

That kind of trust is how a real estate brokerage becomes part of a community instead of simply doing business in one.

The part we're proudest of doesn't show up on a closing statement

We've been fortunate to build REMAX Innovations across Kansas City and the Northland by helping people buy and sell homes. That's the work, and we love the work.

But the part we're proudest of can't really be measured in transactions. It's the relationships still standing long after the paperwork has been filed and the SOLD sign has come down. It's the people who stop us in the grocery store. The clients who became friends. The families we've now helped three times.

August 23, 2026 is our chance to celebrate every bit of that.

So come see us

Bring the family. Bring the kids. Bring the neighbor who just moved in and doesn't know anybody yet.

Come eat. Listen to some music. Walk the vendors. Grab some swag. Let the kids wear themselves completely out in the bounce houses so bedtime is somebody else's problem for once. Come see the REMAX balloon up close. (It's a lot bigger in person than you're picturing)

You helped build this community, helped build our business, and we'd really like the chance to say thank you.

That's the philosophy behind the party.

At REMAX Innovations, closing day was never supposed to be goodbye.
